My Customized DSLR Neck Strap

As promised in my earlier post, I thought I’d make a blog entry on a neck strap design that White House photojournalists Chris Usher and Chip Somodevilla use on their cameras. Having met Chip before Chris, I new I recognized the strap when Chris showed it to me on his cameras. I pointed it out to him and said I would be interested in making my own. So here’s what we did:

Chris and I got in the car and went to the Pro Photo camera shop in Washington, DC where I picked up two items, the Bellingham SP10 Leather Shoulder Pad, and the Domke Gripper Camera Strap 1″ with Swivel Quick Release, both in black. Total cost: $60. Assembly was pretty easy, and these are some resulting photos:
